Floppers Cup and Spares Cup

  • All teams play four games on neutral boards, over five matchday nights.
  • All matches are level throws. Legs can therefore be drawn.
  • Matches must be played on the designated home team’s usual board with the usual skittles and ball.
  • Captains are responsible for making sure that landlords know when a game is being played at their venue (The usual food would be appreciated, I’m sure, with the extra custom the match brings in).
  • The top two of each cup’s mini-league after all five rounds of matches will play off in the final for the cup. Mini-league positions will be decided by the usual two points for a match win and one point for a draw. In the event of teams being tied after this, the team with the most legs ‘for’ will go through. If this is tied too, the team(s) to go through to the final will be drawn from a hat.
  • We have tried to make sure that there is always a match at the pub where the team with no game plays so they can still have a night out, watching and supporting, if wanted.
  • NB. NO MATCHES CAN BE POSTPONED! If you are short of players, you must turn up with as many players as you can. If you have only six players you must forfeit the last three legs. If you only have seven players, you can play the last leg competitively with a pair comprising one previously unplayed player plus one that has already played before in that game, but the player who plays again must be chosen by the opposing team's captain not the team who are short.

There are two extra CUP Competitions this year, and the winners of each will compete for the League Cup.

  1. The SPARES CUP will be played out between the teams who occupy the bottom five places in the league at the halfway point (ie after the first nine games of the league) and will begin on 26th November. Each team will play each other team in this group once on neutral boards in a mini-league, and the results will go into a mini-table. The top two from each of these mini leagues will contest the final on 18th March.

These new cup competitions ensure that all teams will have at least one title to be playing for until almost the end of the season.

The LEAGUE CUP will be contested by the respective winners of the SPARES CUP and the FLOPPERS CUP on 01st April.
